Weekend of firsts

Peanut ate scrambled eggs this weekend (and loved them,
but not as much as mashed potatoes) and he started crawling!
Sometimes it's a very traditional crawl and other times it's
more of a "scoot-hop-bear crawl."

Playing with his very tan cousin at Nannie's house.

Toys

Someone suggested to us that this child doesn't have enough toys...

Don't listen to my parents, of course I need more toys.

Mother's Day

Peanut gave me two new mommy & baby books for me to read to him for Mother's Day. Oh, and donuts for breakfast. :) I decided to work off the donuts in the afternoon by mowing the backyard. Daddy had to keep pushing the stroller to the backyard because Peanut got fussy if he couldn't see me. Below are pictures of him with a Texas Longhorns cap handed down from his cousins. He decided he'd rather eat it than wear it.

Birthday weekend

Friends surprised me Saturday with a little birthday party. Jennifer hadn't met Peanut yet, so they had a grand time getting to know each other. Below, he's attempting to chew on her shirt sleeve.

Sunday we saw friends briefly, then just came home and relaxed. Well, Peanut & I relaxed while daddy mowed the backyard. It was a little too chilly to hang out outside.

Peanut was wearing a cute hoodie shirt but it's hard to tell because he must be bibbed pretty much At All Times because of the amount of Drool.

Baptism

Your children are not your children.
They are sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the make upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness.
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He also loves the bow that is stable.

Spring has sprung

We went for a walk down the block on Sunday. It was so nice. I think Peanut really enjoyed it. Then we went off-roading in the stroller to our backyard, where dad was chopping up the Christmas tree. Yes, you read that correctly. We still had our Christmas tree hanging out in the backyard. Not quite as bad as leaving holiday lights strung on the house in April, but only by a little.

It was definitely a day for free toes.

Are you looking at my pigs?

Zzzzzz

Another sleeping picture, but this one was too sweet not to share. This was Saturday morning sometime. I can't really remember why he was only in a diaper. I think he might have been fussy from teething, so he curled up against dad in our bed to take a little nap before we started our day with the Easter Bunny. What a little man.

18 Weeks

Today was Peanut's 4 month pediatrician appointment. He weighed in at 15 lbs 2 oz and was 26 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile for weight and the 80th percentile for height. Basketball player?

He got a shot in each thigh. It wasn't as bad as the shots he got at 2 months, but it still hurt my heart to hear him cry like that. He thought he was just having fun at a new place and meeting people (I'm assuming he didn't really remember his doctor from 2 months ago).

I was telling her about his bottom tooth, when his dad informed us that he has a SECOND tooth right next to the first one, that's popped up. He's been a pretty easy baby for sprouting two teeth in the past week. I think we'll get him a pony.

A birthday, a bunny, and two Kansans

We had company over part of the weekend. Two great friends from Kansas came to meet Peanut. And they all fell in love instantly.

After a morning at Nanny's house for her birthday, we made a quick trip to see the Easter Bunny. Peanut is teething and he didn't have any good naps that day, so it made for a somewhat apathetic photo. But he did look so cute in his bunny outfit. We'll try again next weekend.

Snow day! We got 6+ inches of snow Sunday night, so work was closed Monday. Which meant a day of hanging with mom. I think he was sick of me and my shenanigans by the time daddy got home. I hear he was pretty happy to be back at daycare this morning.

Success!

Peanut slept the whole night through in his crib! I woke up listening to him chatter to himself over the monitor. He was sideways and all the way over on one end of the crib. Apparently he travels in his sleep.

Tummy Time

Peanut rolls over from his tummy to his back, but we haven't caught it on camera. He doesn't do it in the above video either, but it is amazing how strong his arms and neck have gotten in just a few short weeks.

Mirror twin

This picture is from Saturday. I noticed that at daycare they have a low mirror for the babies to look into, so I thought Peanut needed some vanity time. I think he really liked it. He would swivel his head to look away and then turn back really fast to gaze at himself (or most likely the "baby in the mirror" since he probably doesn't realize it's him) and smile. Of course I didn't put it away when he was done, so later on I kicked the mirror with my foot and cracked it, so we had to buy another one at Target.

Hoot

Peanut wasn't in the mood to show off his outfit this morning. For the record it says Hoot Hoot I'm Cute.

Cuddles

We had a friend over last night and while Peanut didn't really feel like sleeping or eating on our timetable, he was still in a cuddly mood.

Waiting for daddy

We were pretty content while we waited to leave this morning, but I heard later that Peanut cried in the car. He really doesn't like the car seat or car rides, I guess.

Picture Day

Peanut slept from 9:30pm last night til 6:40am this morning, when Rob woke us up to get ready. It's picture day at daycare! So we had to take special care to make sure he made it in with his outfit still clean. Of course he scratched his nose yesterday just in time for pictures.

A good's night sleep

Peanut slept from 8pm to 5am. He was fidgety before 5am but kept falling back asleep. He does this thing where he tries to launch himself out of the rock-n-play. I think it might be time to try to transition him to his crib, so he can stretch out more. As terrifying as it is to think about him sleeping in a different room.

Bath nights are the best. Peanut gets a bath every other day and what he seems to enjoy most is afterward, when he can chew on his towel.

Mondays

After a long weekend of not many naps, Peanut had a good night's sleep last night. At least he seemed in a decent mood this morning. Even though he looks super serious in the above picture. I wonder if he's just happy to be going back to daycare, where they really understand him.
